She Is Special
Mar 21, 2015
A favourite around the stable due to her heart and consistency, Special Miss continued her great recent run at form with a soft victory at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Well supported having been successful at the same trip - 2040m - at the same track last month, the talented six-year-old travelled nicely on the rails behind the pace even though that was not where the pre-race plan had her!
"We really wanted her to lead tonight," Michael Kent Jnr said, "but full credit to Jake (Bayliss), he was very patient and waited for the gap to open."
Bayliss said he "was not very happy" at the position he ended up with but noted that Special Miss shared none of his concerns - "she travelled like a champion!"
Hooking out at the turn, Special Miss did not take long to wear down the leaders and close to home was drawing clear, her winning margin 1 1/4 lengths.
An eight times winner from 32 starts, Special Miss has amassed over $160,000 for her happy owners the Cahill family.
Kicking off her career in Victoria before heading to NSW where she won five races at Grafton, Coff's Harbour and Casino, Special Miss has matured into a lovely mare and we look forward to contesting similar races over the next month or so.
