King Reigns at the Picnics
Jan 19, 2015
It takes a particular type of horse to win at picnic meetings - tough, durable and able to carry weight - and King Henry is just that sort of horse.
Having only his second run this campaign, the lightly raced six-year-old was in winning form at Woolamai on Saturday - the third time he has been successful from his last four outings.
And partnering the son of King Of Roses each time has been Michael Kent Jnr who considers the gelding one of his favourite horses.
"I am thrilled to win on this horse again as he is such a pleasure to train and race."
"He always gives his best and he has been consistent," he said, adding that he had been confident pre-race with King Henry having run second at his first run back to Soldier's Image who ran second at
Cranbourne last Friday evening.
"He has come back well," Michael Jnr said, noting that "he is a big brut of a horse so carrying the high weights at the picnics is no issue for him over short distances."
Raced by Michael Kent, Steve Moran, Karen Barker and P Hickman, King Henry - who has won four of his 14 starts - is one of six winners produced by the stakes placed Kitty Kat, also dam of the multiple city winners Zylvester and Snappy Tom.
