When he gets his own way in front Handsome Knight can prove a hard horse to run down, and so it proved at Cranbourne on Friday night - the lightly raced four-year-old defying all challenges to break through for his second win.
A maiden winner at the same track 12 months ago, the son of Al Samer had run some nice races in metropolitan company since and had derived benefit from a first up hit-out at Showcase level in late December.
Appreciating a drop in class, Handsome Knight jumped to an early lead but looked to be in trouble when others loomed up early in the straight - but he just kept kicking!
Congratulations to owners John Pleiter, Michael Kent, Garnet Quiney, Darren Swan and Murray Swan, several of who also raced Handsome Knight's three times winning dam Macedon Magic who hails from the family of last year's Stradbroke Handicap winner Linton.
