He’snot Themessiah looks set for a successful campaign after impressing at Kilmore on Tuesday.

Having only his second run this campaign, the lightly raced four-year-old was stepping up from 1717m to 1912m and he relished the journey – recording a soft three length victory for an in-form Michael Rodd.

One of that champion rider’s three winners on the card, He’snot Themessiah enjoyed a good run in fourth position although was shuffled back before taking off wide at the 600m.

Joining the leader approaching the turn, the bay hit the lead straightening – quickly drawing clear to record the second win of his seven start career.

“He is a nice stayer in the making,” Rodd reported, adding that he had thought the gelding’s first up run when fifth at Sale also contained merit.

“He was really good there – just left a little flat-footed when they sprinted.”

“Today they were only going at a trot and canter so I let him loose a bit and he was just too good for them.”

Always well regarded by the stable, He’snot Themessiah ran a sound seventh in the South Australian Derby in May.

Raced by Stephen Rose, Dr Rob Mcinnes, Michael Molloy, Matthew Clunies-Ross, Drew Morphett, Mathew Everett, Nicholas Swallow, Nigel Carty, Deanne Hobbs, Richard Ludbrook, Ann Mcinnes, Tim Northeast, Ganga Narayanan, Joanna Pugsley and James Stewart, He'snotthemessiah hails from one of the world's great families.

His fourth dam is the acclaimed matriarch Best In Show, ancestress of the champion stallion Redoute's Choice and fellow big races winners Umatilla, Hurricane Sky, Al Maher, Platinum Scissors, Gathering, He's No Pie Eater, Manhattan Rain, Yagli, Blush With Pride, Chief Contender, Aviance, Xaar, El Gran Senor, Try My Best and Spinning World.
