Farewelling the season with a winner!

Aug 01, 2013

We saw off the 2012/2013 season in style with a smart winner - Seven Cities saluting in easy fashion at Ballarat on Wednesday.

From barrier four jumping to the lead, the lightly raced and talented five-year-old travelled nicely for Jake Bayliss and - after being joined at the 400m - showed a good deal of heart.

Looking to have a bit in hand with his 3/4 length victory, Seven Cities has now been successful at three of his 13 starts and his ability to handle damp conditions will hold him in good stead for the rest of the winter.

Congratulations to owners Mark Casey, Sean Duke, Douglas McLennan, Andrew Wade, Jane Kadlckova, Janine Casey, Tabitha Tauschek and Mike Tauschek.

Seven Cities was our 74th winner for the season. Of those 34 were successful at metropolitan level and Michael finished the racing year as the seventh leading city trainer with the best strike rate - 16% - in the top 15.
