Faltastic overcomes the odds

Jul 21, 2013

There was a long list of things working against Faltastic when he lined up at Sale on Sunday.

Firstly, after a previous start victory over 2056m at Werribee a month ago, he was dropping right back to 1400m.

And he was right up in weight - from 56.5kg to the considerable steadier of 60kg.

Plus it was a heavy track, a surface he had only ever struck once before - finishing out of the placings.

And then to the race itself - Faltastic tardily away and ending up at the rear early - forced to make an early run out wide and ending up eight horses out turning as others saved ground closer to the rails.

But a determination to win is all that really matters in the end and Faltastic certainly has that - the five-year-old quickly making up ground with his impressive stride length.

Storming down the outside, Faltastic hit the lead with 50m to go, drawing clear late to salute by a length.

"A great training performance," enthused the racecaller!

A two times winner from just three starts for the stable, Faltastic is raced by a large group of owners - congratulations to Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock Pty Ltd (manager Darren Dance), John Rau, D R Ashley, Michelle Curtain, Brian Woolcock, Vasko Ristevski, Allan Hughes, Maria Keys, Robert Elphinstone, David O’Brien, Wendy Prentis, James Spalding, Marie Farrell and Four Amigos (manager Wayne Foran).
