Nesbo defies tough run

Jun 24, 2013

It was an impressive performance by Nesbo to salute at his Cranbourne debut on Sunday, the three-year-old doing it tough from an outside gate but finding the line in determined fashion.

Drifting back - caught wide throughout, the promising bay was travelling sweetly coming to the turn but upon straightening had several lengths to make up.

But stride by stride he picked up his rivals, hitting the lead just a few strides from the post before drawing clear to win by a soft half length.

A $13,000 Scone Yearling sale purchase for Alan Gay and Dr Adam Gay, Nesbo is a son of the French Group One winner Valixir (conqueror of Elvstroem), Nesbo is the second foal and first winner for the city placed winner Tavette who was coincidently raced by other clients of MC Kent Racing - the Zito family.

Served last spring by I Am Invincible, Tavette is a half-sister to the stakes placed multiple city winners Celtic Trial and Jayemzed. Her dam Te Akau is a half-sister to the multiple Group 3 winner Steel Phoenix from the family of dual Group One winner King Phoenix.
