Having only her third start for the stable, tough filly Danestroem recorded her second win for us when saluting in strong fashion at Ballarat on Thursday - the second leg of our winning double.
Winning by a couple of lengths first up at Cranbourne in late May, the daughter of Elvstroem (pictured) found trouble at that same track next time out but was back to her best stepping up to 1400m.
Also rising in class - her win coming at Showcase level - Danestroem did a great job, impressing jockey Brad Rawiller who was riding her for the first time.
"She did a really good job," he said. "She switched off nicely and when she got the split she gave a good kick."
"In the run home she just kept responding, she is tough."
With her win part of a series in which the final is contested over 1600m, Danestroem looks nicely primed for another rise in distnace.
"She should be in top order going into the final," Rawiller said, "and the mile should suit her ideally."
A full sister to last start winning stable mate Stroemsky, Danestroem was bred by Kerry Selleck and raced by her with Lee Selleck, Brian Lawrence, Peter Etheredge, Dominic Chila and Francis Ambrosino.
