Rushing To Victory

May 19, 2013

Home-bred victories are always special ones so congratulations to Max Smart on the convincing win recorded by Rushworth at Werribee on Saturday.

Hunting up to get a good run behind the leaders along the rails, Rushworth was well handled by stable apprentice Jake Bayliss who had the four-year-old off the fence and into the clear at the 200m.

Quickly putting ground on his rivals to salute by a soft ¾ length, Rushworth recorded the second win of his 11 start career.

Raced by Smart with Pat Walton, Peter Redden, John Ivill and Bill Miller, the son of Churchill Downs is out of the unraced Encosta de Lago mare Ready Charm who was also bred by Smart.

Served last spring by Hard Spun having foaled a Turffontein colt last August, Ready Charm is a half sister to the Group placed Fort Knox and True Charm - dam of the stakes placed multiple city winner Winged Charm who won over $220,000 for the Kent stable.
