Black Type for Everage

What great fun Everage has been for Michael Kent - the Sydney based filly not once out of the quinella in six starts and on Saturday increasing her value with a tough victory in the Listed Keith Mackay Quality at Randwick.

Raced by Kent with long time friend Craig Carmody who prepares the two-year-old from his Randwick base, Everage has proven herself both determined and classy.

"She's been terrific," Carmody enthused - "full credit to her, she's come a long way in a short space of time and she hasn't put a foot wrong."

Describing Everage as a "tough, resilient filly with a lot of talent," Carmody is thrilled to be racing such a good horse with Kent.

''We've had a great association,'' he said.

''Mick was instrumental in getting me a really good permanent job up in Singapore. I initially went up there for three months but ended up staying for four yearings, having a really good stint."

Kent, who was attracted to Everage not only on type but because of her interesting pedigree (she is bred on a 4 X 3 cross to the excellent mare Easy Date), is looking forward to the spring.

"She's proven that she's up to group level in her sex and grade so we'll just try to find the spring fillies races and keep her going,'' he said.

''We'll probably kick her off here [in Sydney] in the Princess Series and we'll see how we go.''
