She's A Delight!

Mar 01, 2013

Legendary stallion Nureyev contributed to our success at Sale on Thursday - our running double of debutant winners both line-bred to that champion son of Northern Dancer.

Both winners were impressive and Real Delight had jockey Craig Williams in raptures with her fast-finishing victory.

"She is stakes class," he said upon dismounting - a good wrap on a horse after a win in a 1213m maiden on heavy going.

But we hope he is right - Real Delight a filly we have always had a bit of time for.

A home-bred for the now retired acclaimed Singapore based trainer Don Baertschiger who races her with Bill Slatter, Real Delight is a full sister to her very talented stable mate Our Miss Jones who is back in work after fracturing her pelvis last year.

A Moonee Valley winner at her most recent outing last winter, Our Miss Jones was second to Invest in last year's Group One Australasian Oaks and we are hoping that Real Delight can also head down a black type path.

Her dam Maryann Jones by Fasilyev (also dam sire of our next race winner Bondi Break) has been doing a great job at stud - her daughter Prairie Star also a stakes placed metropolitan winner.

And we have her two-year-old - Marianne, Real Delight's full sister - debuting in the Festival Of Racing Stakes, the opening event at Flemington on Saturday.
