Abbey Marie Pleases

Feb 06, 2018

High class mare Abbey Marie enjoyed a nice break after her courageous and somewhat unlucky Caulfield Cup sixth and has pleased the stable upon her return - trialling nicely at Cranbourne Monday.

Reunited with Luke Nolen who was aboard for her Group One victory in the 2016 Australasian Oaks at Morphettville, Abbey Marie gave the champion jockey a good feel and we are looking forward to her return in the Group One C.F Orr Stakes.

"She is going as well as ever," Mick Kent said, adding that whilst the 1400m of the Orr may be a bit short, he is confident of a good campaign for Abbey Marie with several options over the summer and autumn carnivals... such as the Peter Young Stakes, the Australian Cup, the Ranvet Stakes and The BMW.

Meanwhile he is hoping for a good barrier draw in the Orr, noting that "with the vagaries of Caulfield if you draw badly you get back which makes it tough."
