A Stable Trifecta!

Dec 02, 2017

Michael Kent was just about the proudest person at Sandown today; despite not having a runner in the Clanbrooke Racing Handicap at Sandown he was beaming - delighted to see stable riders Ethan Brown, Beau Mertens and Stephanie Thornton finish 1, 2, 3 in the 1600m contest.

"I really enjoy teaching them and take great pride in their success," Kent said.

"They are all great kids with different styles, strengths and weaknesses. Beau is just coming out of his time, it is early but he is good enough to go it alone now and I expect Ethan and Stephanie to really get going now."

"I have held them back a bit to maximize their claims and I think they will both have good seasons... and in time they both have the ability to develop into good senior jockeys."

Ethan was seen at his best steering Mrs Gardenia to a convincing victory whilst Beau was aboard Heavenly Descent and Stephanie on Fudged. It was a good weekend for her following a Moonee Valley treble on Friday evening.
