Group One Placing For Wyndspelle
Nov 05, 2017
A Group Two winner of the Waikato Guineas at home, New Zealand galloper Wyndspelle has been in great form since joining our stables this spring and it was great to see him in the placings in one of the big races at Flemington on Derby Day.
Travelling nicely for Craig Williams, the classy four-year-old took a while to wind up but over the final stages was strong... "he really sprinted well over that last 100m," Williams said, adding that "his owners are going to have a lot of fun with him in the autumn."
"He was sent over here to run in the two big miles, the Toorak and the Kennedy," Mick Kent said.
"His Toorak run was very good, he didn't get clear running until the last 50m," he added, noting that his run in the Waterford Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley was best overlooked as the track was not playing to backmarkers.
Taking his prize money tally to just short of $300,000, Wyndspelle's Kennedy Mile third was his second placing at Group One level following on from his second in last year's Sires' Produce Stakes at Ellerslie.
