Ruby Makes Winning Debut For Stable

Sep 27, 2017

Having shown good ability in New Zealand, it was good to see Rubyreddress making a winning debut for the stable - too strong at Tatura on the weekend having her first start since late July.

Jumping well and settling just behind the leaders, the lightly raced four-year-old enjoyed a good run for our apprentice Stephanie Thornton - hooking out four wide turning and chasing gamely.

Doing a good job at BM58 level having previously been a maiden, Rubyreddress has plenty of upside.

"Jen Campin sent three horses over including this mare and Wyndspelle. The hope is to get some Australian form for them before they go to stud... and they are also seeking the firmer tracks as it has been so wet in New Zealand," Michael Kent Jnr said.

Bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan at Cambridge Stud, Rubyreddress is by Galileo's five times Group One winner Cape Blanco out of the Great Dane mare Danelish, an unraced half-sister to multiple Group Two winners Memphis Blues and Palatious (dam of Blue Diamond winner Danelagh, in turn dam of Hong Kong star Vengeance Of Rain).

This is a family in the news this week with Rubyreddress' grandma Delicious Blue being fourth dam of Wednesday's Oaks Trial winner Pinot.

Also dam of the Group Three placed Singapore galloper Blue Lion, Danelish hails from a prolific black-type family whose other members include the stakes winners Dizelle, Dizlago, Bernicia, Old North, Cable, Evasion, Bon Amie and Alma Mater.
