Abbey Marie Thriving
Sep 11, 2016
Star filly Abbey Marie is enjoying stable life in preparation for a spring campaign, the last start Group One Australasian Oaks winner in great shape after suffering from a life threatening infection in late May.
Thankfully responding to treatment before a break at Merlin Park, Abbey Marie is still in the early stages of her preparation but the Group One Myer Stakes on Derby Day is the target at this stage.
A really bred daughter of Redoute's Choice, Abbey Marie is a full sister to the stable's Group One AJC Oaks winner Absolutely who was exported to Japan three years ago.
It is not often we get to train Group One sisters and it is little wonder that photos of Absolutely and Abbey Marie take pride of place in the stables!
A filly with a lovely disposition, Abbey Marie is a real favourite at the stables - "the girls spoil her," Mick Kent laughed, adding that the four-year-old's temperament is such that "you could take her home and she'd sit on the couch and watch TV with you!"
