Michael says - 'I really wanted a filly by this sire, but especially one with good length of leg and scope to her frame. I've found that here and this filly has a tremendous action, a lovely big hindquarter and, well, you can't beat Zabeel mares. I've had Consommateur and Royal Order run well for me this year out of Zabeel mares and I really look forward to training this well-bred filly.'

The NASD/Zabeel mare cross has already proved extremely successful as her FULL SISTER was stakes placed at her first start as a 2.y.o and went on to run close 4ths in the best 2yo Group races in Sydney. Clearly Innocent - recent winner of the GR1 BTC Cup, is also out of a Zabeel Mare, as is Gypsy Diamond - GR2 winner and GR1 2nd placegetter.

Not A Single Doubt is literally on fire this year and other recent stars for him include Secret AgendaExtreme Choice, Scales Of Justice, Single GazeKededna and Doubt I'm Dreaming.

Zabeel is Australasia's most influential broodmare sire with 34 individual GR1 winners including Dundeel, Atlantic Jewel, Ocean Park and Samantha Miss to name a few!

Bred by champion breeders Corrumbene Stud - who have produced Sebring, Overreach and True Jewels, this gorgeous filly was sourced from the recent Magic Millions June Yearling Sale. Graduates of this sale include GR1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, Singapore-based world champion Rocket Man and the very exciting Doubt I'm Dreaming.

Purchase price - $150,000

Sire: Dundeel Dam: Skating on Ice

Michael says - 'This classy filly was selected on type and in conjunction with our pedigree expert who rated her in the top range of yearlings at the February Sydney Classic sale.

She is a scopey, good-walking individual with great depth to her shoulder and girth, and a terrific hind end.

She broke in really well and the early training has stimulated a real growth spurt, which we always expected given her late date of birth.'

Dundeel was a champion 3yo and six-time GR1 winner and his yearlings have proved extremely popular with his top-priced yearling fetching $900,000 and his year-round average at $160,000.

Skating On Ice was a winner on debut as a 2yo and went on to win 8 races and $380,000 including 2nd in two Listed events and a Gr3 placing.

Our pedigree expert's comment - 'The real deal here...dam sire Bradbury's Luck is almost as good as it gets for Dundeel! We won't see a better pedigree than this by this sire.'

At just $52,000, we feel this filly was particularly well bought and we look forward to getting her back into training soon.

Here's your Derby horse! A full sister to Harlow Gold - who went so close in two Gr.1's this season - and out of an outstanding broodmare who has had 3 to race for 3 STAKES horses. This athletic, beautifully-moving colt has all the making's of a derby horse and was very well bought at the recent record-breaking Easter Yearling Sale.

Kuroshio Witchy

Kuroshio Witchy

1 year old Bay Colt

Sire: Kuroshio Dam: Witchy

*** UPDATE - close relative AJUDA wins impressively at Sandown on Feb 8! ***

*** KUROSHIO's first crop of impressive yearlings average over $70,000 at the Melbourne Premier ***

This strong bay colt was foaled on September 9, 2015. He hails from the debut crop of Kuroshio, a Darley bred and raced stallion who won three of his 11 starts; at two taking out the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (one of the first juvenile races of the season) and the Gr.3 Blue Diamond Prelude, defeating Dissident.

At three he took on the older horses at weight-for-age level, showing his usual speed to win the Gr.3 McEwen Stakes, leading throughout... proving 1 3/4 lengths too good for Moment Of Change.

Retired to stud in 2014, Kuroshio has proven popular with breeders, serving 206 mares in his first two years at Darley's Nagambie base.

Witchy's family is one of mainly sprinters so with Kuroshio it is speed on speed.

Neither big nor small, this colt is strong and well put together and is not only an excellent type but a colt with a terrific temperament.

This fellow is the product of a planned mating. Kuroshio's dam is line-bred to the legendary Secretariat whilst Witchy is line-bred to his half-brother Sir Gaylord... providing for a 6 X 7 X 7 X 7 cross of the influential Somethingroyal, one of the great modern day line-breeding subjects with around 500 stakes winners line-bred to her within five generations alone.

Kuroshio's dam also boasts a 5 X 6 cross of the champion race and broodmare Two Lea via her Kentucky Derby winning son Tim Tam and her other fine son On-And-On. Witchy meanwhile boasts an extra strain of the latter.

Witchy's half-sister Lady Lisbon has produced a very nice type with similar line-breeding (crosses of Somethingroyal and Two Lea)... Ajuda who was impressive easily breaking her maiden recently - then taking that form to town and winning in strong style at Sandown in early February.

Meanwhile Kuroshio and Peintre Celebre are bred on the same Northern Dancer/Alydar cross.

And it is worth noting how well the Exceed And Excel/Nureyev cross is faring with an excellent stakes winner strike rate of 6.6%.

Witchy has had four runners to date, three of whom have been winners including the talented Malinga who was unfortunately injured after winning his maiden by three lengths.

Witchy is a half-sister to six winners including the metropolitan winners Lady Lisbon and Potomac (both of whom are proving good producers) as well as the five times winner Tanjil who was fourth at Listed level.

Witchy's dam Southern Scene is out of the excellent producer Miss Golly, dam of 11 winners including the stakes placed Adelaide Magic Millions winner Sparky Miss whose five winners include the stakes winner Rancho Spark and the speedy stakes placed Dual Spark whose stakes winning daughter Sparks Fly was trained by Michael Kent.
